Bowling

Bowling…I haven’t been bowling in over more than a year. I just realized that today. We use to go on the base all the time before we moved here. We always had a good time even though I wasn’t never a great at it. Since we moved it just hasn’t been high on our list. Anyway, the FSG had a ladies night tonight and everyone went bowling and then to dinner. We had a great time and even though I couldn’t bowl I really did enjoy it! I think the next outing is going to be kid friendly and something like mini golf! That should be interesting and fun.

Update!

Well so much has gone on in the past month I haven’t a chance to blog anything! We are all doing good and the time is flying by. I can’t believe it is actual Spring again! The winter did seem long until now that is. Now the weather is starting to be decent again the winter seems to have been long ago. We are actually having some sunny days!
I am also more involved with the FSG so that does take up some of the free time I use to have. Dan has been coming and going more recently so it has been nice to have things going on.
Now that everything has settled down a bit I’d like to give more attention to the blog. I have a bunch of things to post here but it is going to take a little time to get caught up on everything.

Getting there!

Well we did go shooting today and had a wonderful time! A friend of D’s from work came along who hadn’t been to the indoor range where we go and I think he liked it. I’m was having trouble shooting at first. I thing I wasn’t holding it right and it was hurting my hand but then after a little adjustment it was much better. I have improved drastically since the first time we went and feel more confident that in needed I could certainly defend myself. Hopefully we will be able to go again at least once before D leaves. After we all finished shooting we were very hungry so went to have dinner before driving all the way back home! We ended up getting a free desert out of the deal which was pretty cool!

Get over it!

Getting over the shock of the plant being sold we moved on to the front yard and what we can do there. The weather is starting to warm up and winter is waving goodbye for now so we decided to clean out the front yard and put down new mulch! We have seen people all over the place working in their yards getting a jump on the outdoor spring cleaning and thought it would be fun to join in. We have much less to do this year than last year when we moved in and it is still hard to believe we have been here in this house for almost a year! We spent most of today clearing away the old mulch and making several trips to buy more when we kept running out before we were done. This year we went with the RED and it looks fantastic!! We are so pleased with out work!
I’m excited because tomorrow we are going shooting again! More practice for me and the Lady!!!

Stuck with the fake!

We got up early today and went plant shopping again we visited a tropical plant store in Poulsbo and then even went to a local nursery just to have a look. Nothing. So we decided to go back and buy the plant we liked the most the night before! There was one small problem when we got to the store where the plant was….it had been SOLD! Yes some other person had seen a good thing and not wasted anytime buying it. Unlike us we thought for sure there was something better out there so went looking but never found it and when we returned for the plant it was gone. So the lesson here is don’t waste you time looking for something better when you have already found something good! Otherwise like us you could end up with nothing! So for now we still have our old fake plant!

Indecision & Gifts

First thing this morning we had someone come to look at the gutters and give an estimate on replacing them all! He was kind enough to leave a color option chart with me. I had lots of running around to day today so after the bank, post office and Blockbuster I went to Lowe’s to pick up some exterior paint samples and get some ideas for color schemes. Little did I know what a hard decision this is going to be! I took a ton of samples and brought them all home laid then all out and all I can say is WOW! I like so many it is going to be impossible to pick! I thought the roof was hard to decide on but this is just crazy.
The good news is that later in the day we had another company come to look at the gutters and he was about to fix the major problem one right there on the spot! It 50.00 and the gutter is he used is green but is isn’t a big deal being on the side of the house and hopefully soon they will all be replaced anyway.
When the mail came there was a package from my brother-in-law with a new speed loader for the LS! He bought it but it didn’t work with the grip he uses so he send it on to me! I tried it out and it is a little hard to use at first but I think the more I use it the easier it will be. Very cool of him send it to me.

I shot the Lady

We woke up pretty late today and decided to eat, shower and take off for the range. It is pretty far from home so we wanted to get there before it got to busy and we couldn’t get in. We made the drive and after trying to fine a place to park we were relieved that they had two lanes available for us. We paid and set up and were ready to go. I had D shoot it first so I could see just what I was in for. We are not really familiar with revolvers and I had a pretty good idea it was going to be different than shooting the Glocks we own. So he shot it first and ended up with a little nick on right hand. It jumped a little and his had hit the barrel release thing. It wasn’t a big deal. I didn’t have that problem because of being left handed we hold it differently. It was very hard for me to shoot at first. I had 125g and 130g both were giving me hell. D ended up buying a few other things from the range and we tried those out but in the end I decided to stick with the 130’s. I was a little discouraged when I started because while I was hitting the target at 15 feet I was all over the place. I am happy to say that after almost 100 rounds and one nice fat blister things were improving. After getting over some the excitement and getting a feel for it in my hands I started to improve…enough to defend myself for sure. I am hoping we can go back next weekend to the indoor but if not at least to the local outdoor range. I need just a little more practice and I will master it!

It was about time…

After all the confusion with trying to buy the LS we decided that it might be better to just shop elsewhere. We knew there was going to be some travel involved because there is really only one place locally to shop and well we had already dealt with them enough. So yesterday D got home from work pretty early and called around a while yesterday and finally found a place about 40 miles away that had what I wanted. He called the right people to verify that there wouldn’t be a problem with me just buying it in my name so soon after all the confusion with him buying it. We got the ok and set out for a short road trip. It took a little while to find the place. We called them a few times for better directions but they weren’t much help in that department. Finally after driving around for a while we were able to find it. The whole took about 30 minutes and the longest part was filling out the paperwork. I felt certain that it would be delayed but the dealer made the call and it was a PROCEED! Much to my joy we were able to actually walk out the door with the LS this time. This proves that where you buy is just as important as what you buy. So after all the BS with the other place I finally had my Lady Smith!
This afternoon we went out and found the correct holster. We weren’t sure if this was going to be an easy task considering I’m left handed. It ended up we found it rather easily and now I am all set! D is home tomorrow so we plan to go to an indoor range and try it out for the first time!
